In the School District of Superior we know that student learning is affected by high quality instruction and a guaranteed and viable curriculum, which is aligned with clear learning targets at every grade level and for every course.
The Curriculum, Instruction and Assessment Department encompasses the District’s After School Programs, services for homeless students and the Superior Community Preschool Program.
School District of Superior Assessment Philosophy Summary
All children deserve the opportunity to demonstrate what they have learned and the District has the responsibility to collect the evidence of that learning. The School District of Superior is required by the State of Wisconsin and the Federal Government as per the No Child Left Behind (NCLB) Act to administer state standardized tests at the 3rd-8th, and 10th grade levels. Additionally, the District is required to report results on local (standards-based) assessments for all students. Beginning in September, 2007, the School District of Superior will be required to assess all students in the four core areas each year. These assessments will be common across grade level and/or course. It is the responsibility of the District to analyze these results to ensure continuous improvement in both instructional practices and student achievement.
