About Us

Student Services

The Department of Student Services Department is responsible for the safety, prevention and wellness of all students in our school district.

Growing Up Healthy:

Growing Up Healthy is a free screening for parents and their preschool children age 6 months to 5 years old who reside in the School District of Superior. Early childhood professionals will help you:

  • Find out if your child’s development is on track.
  • Learn how to encourage your child’s learning through everyday experiences and play.
  • Gather helpful parenting tips.

Contact the Student Services Department for more information and date of the next screening.

Home-Based Private Education (Home Schooling)

In the State of Wisconsin, parents have the option of home schooling their children. Parents must apply with the State in order to avoid truancy from the School District.

Applications to apply for home-based private education (home schooling) may be obtained from the Wisconsin Department of Public instruction by calling 608-266-5761 or toll free 1-888-245-2732, extension 1.

Homebound Procedures:

Occasionally, parents find their child has a medical reason to request instruction in the home. If a student needs homebound instruction:

  1. The child’s parent/guardian must submit a prescription requesting homebound services to Nancy Smith, Director of Health Services.
  2. When the request is approved, the Student Services Secretary will attempt to locate a homebound instructor within two weeks of request, (DPI gives us 30 days from receipt of prescription.)
  3. The homebound instructor will then contact the parent directly to set up the schedule.
  4. Homebound will be set up for a maximum of six weeks, unless structured through an IEP.

Open Enrollment

Wisconsin’s inter-district public school open enrollment program allows parents to apply for their children to attend school districts other than the one in which they live.

Parents must submit an application form to the non-resident district during a three week period in February. Early/Late applications will not be accepted for any reason.
