Winter Athletics
BOY'S BASKETBALL
Three teams, Varsity, junior varsity, sophomore team, and a freshmen team make up the Spartan Basketball program for grades 9-12. If you don't like the cold winter weather, this indoor activity may be for you. Basketball is an exciting way to sharpen your skills, dazzle fans and build school spirit.
GRADES: 9-12
NUMBER OF PARTICIPANTS: Approximately 30-40
PRACTICES: Daily as determined by the Head Coach
LENGTH OF SEASON: Mid-November through the mid March
TYPES OF ACTIVITIES: A 20 game schedule and the WIAA Tournament series

GIRL'S BASKETBALL
What a great opportunity to enjoy a very competitive sport and learn a great deal of self-discipline. Tryouts are held in early November to select members for the Varsity, junior varsity, sophomore, and freshman teams. This is fast becoming a popular activity for our Spartan girls.

HOCKEY
If a State Championship is on your mind and you can play hockey, the Spartan Varsity and Junior Varsity challenge you to be just that, a “champion”! Dry land training and an extensive tryout system allows the coaching staff to select the best personnel for the teams. If you have played the game, skate on to practices in mid November and exhibit your skating and stick handling abilities. Spartan Hockey is number one in the state of Wisconsin, and we expect to keep it that way!

BOY'S SWIMMING AND DIVING
If you like to make a big splash, dive onto the Boy's Swimming and Diving Team. This demanding activity requires you to make a commitment to morning and afternoon workouts as scheduled by the head coach. The swimming team has developed a rich tradition, a winning attitude and is always very competitive.
GRADES: 9-12
NUMBER OF PARTICIPANTS: Unlimited
PRACTICES: Daily as determined by the coaching staff
LENGTH OF SEASON: Last week of November to mid February
TYPES OF ACTIVITIES: A 14 meet schedule and the WIAA Tournament series.

WRESTLING
Get a hold of your high school days, pin down a sport and join the wrestling team. If you have the desire and the heart to work hard and dedicate yourself to a physical activity then plan on being a part of the Spartan wrestling squad.

PRACTICES: Daily as determined by the coaching staff
LENGTH OF SEASON: Mid-November to mid February

GIRLS GYMNASTICS
This activity is for those individuals who have some athletic ability in various required gymnastic skills. It is helpful that you have some previous gymnastics experience, but not entirely necessary. Practices begin in November and culminate with the State championships in March. Practices will be held at the YMCA Gymnastics Center in the Mariner Mall.
GRADES: 9-12
NUMBER OF PARTICIPANTS: Unlimited
LENGTH OF SEASON: November through 1st week in March
PRACTICES: Daily after school or at prescribed times by the Head Coach
TYPES OF ACTIVITIES: A 14 meet schedule with WIAA Tournament Meets.

GIRLS HOCKEY
The fastest growing female sport in America, girls hockey is for those individuals who possess skills in skating, stick handling, shooting, as well as those who love the sport of hockey. A strong hockey tradition is sure to be built here at SSHS. Practices begin in early November and culminate with the State Tournament in early March.
GRADES: 9-12
NUMBER OF PARTICIPANTS: Limit of 20
LENGTH OF SEASON: November through 1st week in March
PRACTICES: Daily after school at the SAHA Ice Arena or as assigned by the Head Coach.
TYPE OF ACTIVITIES: 20 game regular season followed by the WIAA Tournament series.
